- +o The Destination Tree Root text fields which appear in
- the "Edit Permissions and Destinations" and "Build
- Product" views will be removed for the next release.
- The reason is this field does not do what users are
- likely to want to use it for.
-
- This field is passed to gendist(1M) via the -rbase
- argument:
-
- gendist -rbase rbase
-
- Set the ``root base,'' which is the pathname of the top
- of the destination tree. The default rbase is /root,
- overridden by the environment variable rbase.
-
- What the casual developer would expect, is that this
- identifies the root directory on the target machine.
- Users installing your product need to run inst or swmgr
- with the '-r' argument to achieve this:
-
- swmgr -r target
-
- Set the effective root directory in which the new
- software will be installed. By default, this is /.
- This option is used to install software somewhere other
- than the default location and to specify the root of a
- virtual IRIX tree for diskless prototype trees.
