  12.             Product" views will be removed for the next release.
  13.             The reason is this field does not do what users are
  14.             likely to want to use it for.

  16.             This field is passed to gendist(1M) via the -rbase
  17.             argument:

  19.                  gendist -rbase rbase

  21.             Set the ``root base,'' which is the pathname of the top
  22.             of the destination tree.  The default rbase is /root,
  23.             overridden by the environment variable rbase.

  25.             What the casual developer would expect, is that this
  26.             identifies the root directory on the target machine.
  27.             Users installing your product need to run inst or swmgr
  28.             with the '-r' argument to achieve this:

  30.                  swmgr -r target

  32.             Set the effective root directory in which the new
  33.             software will be installed.  By default, this is /.
  34.             This option is used to install software somewhere other
  35.             than the default location and to specify the root of a
  36.             virtual IRIX tree for diskless prototype trees.
